Christmas Comes Early
At least Christmas shopping can. And, in all truth, it should. Waiting for the last minute to do your Christmas shopping is something that is often mocked in popular culture, but the preferred option that most people take, which is buying them through the month of December, is also not the best one. Do you remember how early the stores put out their Christmas decorations? That’s also how early they update their prices to “Christmas value” prices. Items on hot demand, especially toys, become seriously more expensive.
Of course in December you get that extra paycheck that allows you to buy your presents with more ease. But there’s no reason not to get some presents throughout the year, especially the more expensive ones, or the more “timeless” ones. Because when it comes to toys, of course kids always want the latest ones. But when you’re talking about more common items, there’s really no need to wait until Winter. For example, my wife decided that every woman in the family deserved to own one of the many ghd straighteners. Fortunately, I managed to convince her of two things: first of all, to get just the straightener, since she wanted to offer everyone a huge bundle, and to buy them online and during sale season.
I was actually really impressed with the ghd website. Although straightening my hair is really not my cup of tea, I could at least rest assured that the products were top quality and that the costumer supports was also top notch.
Buying online has gone for something that I was very reluctant to do to something I do very, very often. People rave about how much more comfortable it is and how much cheaper it is, but I believe those two reasons are not the main reason why I do it. I think it’s the feeling of scouring the Internet for rare things I like. It’s so hard to find the dvd collection of that one show you watched as a child or that rare part for your car, but if it exists, it’s online.
That’s also where I do most of my Christmas shopping. I enjoy buying rare stuff for people, something that is truly unique, and the Internet replaced the antique store and the thrift store in my world. Surely it’s still fun to go and physically look at stuff, but the enormous amount of variety I can find online trumps it all.
