Boot Trends
The definition of the word “boot” has totally been reinvented in the recent styles of the fashion industry. We might first think of winter boots, or rain boots, but now the “boot” category spans above and beyond the basics. Here are some ways that ladies boots are becoming all the rage, and changing the way we define the word.
Vintage and retro styles: Check out these stunning vintage heels from Moda in Pelle. To define a shoe as a “boot” now means it follows very little of the rules we might think it should. For example, these are entirely enclosed, no peep toe, no open pattern. They come up to the ankle and are laced. They have a modest heel and a retro pattern. These are great all year around, they can dress up a skirt, or be dressed down with a casual pair of jeans.
Booties: This no longer means those little knitted boots for babies, it now defines a new generation of shoe. These are ankle boots, with a lot of coverage and some have peep toes or exposed areas. They are often studded or made of black leather, and have a heel. They can be anything that spans to the ankle, and are all the rage. No longer are strappy, open patterned or cut shoes the definition of “sexy”, these are powerful and eye catching shoes with make a statement. They look fantastic with jeans, and can even be worn for work depending on the environment.
Comfy boots: Boots don’t have to be knee high and made of stiff leather. With the “shabby chic” look still going strong, people are opting for more relaxed and grungy textures, such as knit fabrics. Knitted boots with buttons up one side, that can be folded down for more of a “booties” feel are very popular. They are super comfy and warm but not necessarily winter wear. Odds are you’ve seen them on your favorite celebrities. You can wear them over a pair of skinny jeans, or loose workout gear for a relaxed look.
The word “boots” no longer means what it used to. Now we have an option for more full coverage shoes, and are no loner bound to the traditional, modest styles and cuts that we may not be the biggest fans of. Whether it’s winter or summer, you can find a great pair of boots that suit your style.
